The Dipterists Forum annual meeting was held at Cannington College from July 11-18. Members visited various sites across Somerset, recording fly species. At least one fly which is probably new to the UK was discovered at Berrow Dunes. It is associated with Sea Buckthorn so must feel very much at home there. Visitors to Shapwick were treated to several non-fly sightings, including Musk Beetle, Yellow Loosestrife Mining Bee, Raft Spider, Wasp Spider and Large Marsh Grasshopper.
